I think that newspapers are dying out. They are not as popular because you do not get the news right that minute like you would on the Internet or even television. But many people still read news papers because of the soft news stories in them that its harder to find on the Internet.
Many people read the newspapers because its a lot more local then the news stories you find on the Internet, like in Unity for example, the stories that are in the local newspaper are not on the TV or Internet.
It is getting hard for the newspapers to survive because of the Internet and TV( http://www.cbc.ca is a good example of both). With the Internet you can get your news 24/7. Usually after something big happens it is on the Internet within minutes, either on a news site or on a social networking site like Twitter.
We should care if newspapers don't exist. If there were no more newspapers many people would lose there jobs. Also a lot of older people still rely on the newspapers to get there news because they still do not have the Internet, there are also many other people with out the Internet, not just seniors.
The advantages of having news on the Internet are that its free, easy, 24/7, and you can find things from the past. Some disadvantages are that the news is usually more national and less local, if people do not own a computer you can't get the news and that if there is no electricity you also can't get the news.
I personally won't miss the newspapers because I have never really been into reading them and have always got my news from the Internet.
Many people will miss the newspapers because there are still many people without the Internet and still enjoy reading newspapers. If no one read the news papers the Unity Herald would be out of business so people must still read the newspapers.
